What
is LEAP?
|
We are an experiential education program designed to inspire
self-esteem and confidence through group cohesion development.
By using outdoor adventure activities, the learner's interest
is greatly enhanced while individually challenging the student
to achieve her best. We promote teamwork and group problem-solving
skills through activities and programs that must involve every
member of the group to achieve success. Today's youth are strong
and independent. We can provide the skills for these leaders
of tomorrow to receive ideas from everyone within their group,
work together to solve challenges, and evaluate their process
to better understand group dynamics. Another one of our main
goals is to begin the application of what your students learn
here back to the classrooms at school.
|
 |
Our
LEAP adventure programs can provide your group with an enjoyable
and meaningful experience. These programs build positive self-esteem
and promote confidence for the individual through peer group
support. This growth is accomplished through a combination of
program design, outdoor
activities, and our professional
staff. Outdoor adventure skills, taught in a supportive
environment, have proven to be an invaluable tool for teaching
young people. Skills learned not only lead to safe enjoyment
of the natural world around us, but to also encourage students
to be a positive force in their community.

ACCREDITATION
The safety of our participants is the highest priority. Our risk
management plan is the product of knowledge gained from years
of working with youth in an adventure education setting. Camp
High Rocks is accredited by the Association for Experiential Education
(www.aee.org), which is a non-profit organization committed to
the safe development of experiential education in all settings.
The AEE
Accreditation Program is the nation's first recognized accreditation
process focusing on adventure experiential education programming.
AEE accredits many of the nation’s leading adventure education
programs such as the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)
and Project Adventure. Leading college and university outdoor
programs are also accreditated by AEE, including, Harvard University,
University of New Hampshire, and UNC Chapel Hill. Click
on the AEE link or the logo for more information on standards
and accredited programs. |
 |
| ACA
Accreditation means that Camp High Rocks
submitted to a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of its operation
by the American Camp Association (ACA) — from staff qualifications
and training to emergency management. American Camp Association
collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics,
the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure
that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date,
research-based standards in camp operation. Camp High Rocks and
ACA form a partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun
in an environment committed to safety. |
