Hiking
and Backpacking Director, Camp
High Rocks, Cedar Mountain, NC
Camp High Rocks,
a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has a director
opeing for it's summer hiking and backpacking program. We run
an intense program that requires considerable backcountry experience
as well as experience teaching skills sessions. A preferred
director should have experience with backpacking, camping, experience
teaching skills and lessons, managing staff, as well as other
related outdoor skills. NOLS or Outward Bound experience is
highly preferred. A majority of our backpacking trips utilize
the trails in Pisgah National Forest, though we do also venture
into the Nantahala National Forest and Linville Gorge Area.
Responsibilities:
Direct a staff of five to six instructors. Instruct outdoor
skills and environmental ethics. Lead hiking and backpacking
trips up to five days in length.
Qualifications:
At least 21 years of age, hiking and backpacking experience,
Outward Bound or NOLS experience highly preferred.
Benefits: From
$320 to $480 per week for the nine week season and one week of
orientation, depending on experience and qualifications. Room,
board and laundry are included. Training courses available in
late May.
